Scroll to the bottom for a Soulmate Tarot Spread which answers the question: Who is Your Soulmate? In this article, we will explore what a soulmate is. We will also talk about which tarot cards point to a soulmate for a better understanding of how to interpret them in a love reading.

What is a Soulmate?
Thinking of the word “soulmate” brings to mind visions of starstruck lovers, intense and passionate romances, and musings of the picture-perfect sweetheart. We might imagine that if only we found our soulmate, we would finally have the perfect relationship we’ve always dreamed of. However, these notions are mostly influenced by what we see in movies or read in novels. The truth is, that there are many misconceptions about what a soulmate truly is.
The theories about soulmates span many belief systems. Some believe that soulmates are your ideal mate. A perfect someone who will love you like no one else. Still, others believe your soulmate is the other half of your soul and, finding them will somehow complete you. However, I personally believe that soulmates are part of your soul group or soul family.
Your soul family is a group of souls that you reincarnate with, lifetime after lifetime, in order to learn spiritual lessons. Your soulmates share many lifetimes with you. In this theory, soulmates are not always romantic partners. Soulmates can be spouses, best friends, spiritual catalysts, confidants, teachers, or family members.
How to Recognize a Soulmate
The first thing we must acknowledge is that soulmates aren’t perfect and your relationship with them won’t be either. Everyone has flaws and imperfections and all relationships require commitment and hard work.
Not all soulmates reincarnate to be your romantic partner in this life. They can be:
- A best friend: someone who loves you unconditionally so you can confide anything in them without feeling judged.
- A family member you share a deep connection with.
- A soul from your soul group that comes to challenge you in this life in order to learn a particular lesson.
- A teacher or guide
Romantic Soulmates
In romantic relationships, soulmates can be recognized as someone who you connect with on a soul level. They are your best friend as much as they are your romantic and sexual partner. You are able to connect with this person on a deep level.
Soulmates love you unconditionally and can help you become a better version of yourself. They are often a mirror of your true self and reflect back to you your own gifts, strengths, flaws, and insecurities.
Often times your soulmate will seem familiar to you. Upon meeting them you may instantly feel comfortable around them and have the feeling that you’ve always known them.
Sometimes soulmates aren’t easily recognizable. You may have already met one of your soulmates without knowing it.
Which Tarot Cards Point to Your Soulmate?
In a Tarot reading, which cards point to someone being your soulmate? The answer is not so simple. As with any tarot reading, you have to look at the surrounding cards to find context and meaning. However, below I will outline some things that indicate soulmates in a reading.
Multiple Major Arcanas in a Spread
If there are 4 or more Major Arcana cards present it may indicate the person in question is a soulmate.

The Lovers
The Lovers is the most obvious card representing relationships. This card often signifies choices, yin-yang, relationships, soulmate bonds, passion, sexuality, and connection.

Two of Cups
The Two of Cups is another tarot card which most often indicates soulmates. It is a card of partnership and union. In versions of this card, you can oftentimes see romance, attraction, and connection depicted between two individuals. The Two of Cups signifies marriage, coupling, soulmate bonding, romance, partnership, and attraction.

The Star
The Star is a beautiful card to get in a love reading. It is a card of purpose and spirituality. In a love reading, it can signify a relationship that is meant to be. The Star is also a card of our hopes and dreams and having faith they will come to pass.

The Sun
The Sun card represents optimism, joy, positive feelings, and all the good things in life. Getting this card in a love reading often signifies a soulmate and is a great omen of positive outcomes in your relationship.

The World
The World is a card of completion and, because of that, it can often indicate a soulmate. While I don’t subscribe to the idea that a soulmate completes you because we are all already whole, The World is a symbol of harmony, wholeness, and perfect harmony. It can also indicate that marriage is likely to occur.
Other Soulmate Cards
The indication of a soulmate in a tarot reading depends on the particular tarot spread, the surrounding cards, and the questions asked. There are other cards that are favorable in a love reading. I’ve listed some of them below:
- Ten of Cups
- Two of Wands
- Four of Wands
- The Empress & The Emperor
- The Knight of Cups
- The Hierophant
- Justice
- Ten of Pentacles
